National Network for Early Language Learning Regional Workshop

The National Network for Early Language Learning (NNELL) is pleased to announce a southeast regional professional development workshop for K-8 foreign language teachers to take place April 12, 2008, at Floris Elementary School in Herndon, Virginia.

NNELL regional and summer workshops help meet the need for appropriate professional development of a growing number of elementary and middle school foreign language teachers. Virginia supports early language learning and recognizes the value of longer sequences of well-articulated language study in the development of language proficiency.

The workshop, entitled Early Language Learning: A Tool for Success in the 21st Century, features a keynote address by Janet Glass, American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages (ACTFL) 2008 Teacher of the Year. Workshop topics include use of technology, integration of core content in foreign language lessons, and assessment, among others. The registration deadline is March 14, 2008, and attendance is limited to 200 participants. Registration information and further details are available from the NNELL website at http://www.nnell.org.
