The Virginia Department of Education provides school divisions with a free, longitudinal data analysis tool called the Educational Information Management System (EIMS). This tool was designed specifically for Virginia school administrators and provides reports for Virginia’s statewide assessments including the Virginia Standards of Learning (SOL) tests, the Virginia Grade Level Alternative (VGLA), the Virginia Substitute Evaluation Program (VSEP), and the Virginia Alternate Assessment Program (VAAP). Data for the SAT and the Phonological Awareness Literacy Screening (PALS) for Virginia students are also available in EIMS. The intended use of EIMS is to provide an effective and readily available tool that supports data driven decisions to impact instruction in schools and school divisions. EIMS is not a tool for calculating accreditation ratings or Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP) results.
Currently, nine academic years of statewide assessment data, from 2000-2001 to present, are maintained in EIMS. These data can be retrieved and viewed at the division, school, and individual student levels within the “Longitudinal Performance” reports and can be disaggregated at the various levels using a set of easily applied data filters. The filters available in EIMS can be used on various data fields including, but not limited to, student subgroup, grade level, school year, test name, test administration, and assessment type (e.g., SOL, VAAP, VGLA, or VSEP).
EIMS is a user-friendly but secure system that is accessible to school personnel via the Internet using only a standard Web browser. If you are interested in learning more about EIMS, please contact your school division’s EIMS project manager. Please follow the directions below to locate contact information for that individual in your school division:
