The Virginia Department of Education is pleased to bring to your attention Dominion's Strong Men and Women: Excellence in Leadership Series and Online Teaching Guide. Dominion has partnered with the educational community to provide youth with positive role models, African American men and women whose accomplishments and determination demonstrate true excellence in leadership. This year marks the 20th anniversary of the Strong Men and Women: Excellence in Leadership educational series. The Strong Men and Women program goal is to help raise awareness and inspire youth with concrete examples of people who have excelled through courage, determination and effort.
In the teaching guide, you will find activities for all ages and grade levels as well as elementary and secondary lesson plans to go along with suggested readings from the website. This guide will help you and your students explore the achievements of the Strong Men and Women who have played such vital roles in history. The online teaching guide is available at http://www.dom.com/about/education/strong/index.jsp.
