The Guide for Developing High-Quality School Emergency Operation Plans is a new resource developed for the U.S. Department of Education, Office of Safe and Healthy Students, by the Readiness and Emergency Management for Schools (REMS) Technical Assistance Center. It is organized in four sections: (1) the principles of school emergency management planning; (2) a process for developing, implementing, and continually refining an Emergency Operations Plan (EOP) with community partners at the school building level; (3) a discussion of the form, function, and content of schools EOPs; and (4) “A Closer Look,” which considers key topics that support school emergency planning. This guide complements the Virginia Model School Crisis Management Planning Guide and the Resource Guide for Crisis Management and Emergency Responses in Virginia Schools. The new guide may be found at: http://www.doe.virginia.gov/support/ safety_crisis_management/emergency_crisis_management/guide_for_developing_high-quality_school_emerg.pdf
