Attached are the 1996-97 Title I Maximum Basic Authorization and the 1996-97 Supplementary Concentration Grants for counties, cities, and towns in the amount of $96,532,646.00. These entitlements are allocated to the Commonwealth of Virginia under the provisions of Public Law 103-382. The U. S. Department of Education will allocate the total grant amounts in two phases: Phase 1 - July 1, 1996 (80%) and Phase 2 - October 1, 1996 (20%). Only certain school divisions will receive concentration funds appropriated under Title I of the Improving America's Schools Act of 1994, as amended by Public Law 103-382.
