| SUBJECT: | Graphing Calculator Instruction Via Satellite |
The Department of Education through the Virginia Satellite Educational Network (VSEN) will offer a six-hour course on using the Texas Instruments TI-82 graphing calculator. This inservice course is designed for teachers in all disciplines of mathematics. Use of graphing calculators for mathematics instruction is part of the newly adopted Standards of Learning for Virginia Public Schools. This course will help teachers better understand graphing calculator operations and their value in mathematics instruction. This course is offered at no charge to Virginia teachers. It will be broadcast on three consecutive Wednesdays and Fridays beginning January 10, 1996 from 11:25 am - 12:25 pm on satellite Galaxy 6 channel 21. A workbook is also included and can obtained by calling (800) 246-8736. Schools may record the programs and retain a copy for future training. A copy will also be made available for checkout in the Division of Technology's video library located in the Office of Production Services.
