SUBJECT: Request for Proposals (RFPs) for Community-Based Organizations

Under the requirements of the Carl D. Perkins Vocational and
Applied Technology Education Act of 1990 and the State Plan
for Vocational  Education, funds are available through the
RFP process for receipt of proposals in the area of
  Community-Based Organizations.

The purpose of the RFP is to provide an opportunity to
improve the quality of vocational education for
disadvantaged or disabled  students who are educationally or
economically disadvantaged.  These opportunities would be
provided by Community-Based Organizations through exemplary

  2) other agencies; and, 3) employers.

A Community-Based Organization is defined as "a private,
non-profit organization that is representative of
communities or significant segments of communities and
provides job training services."  Those institutions or
agencies interested in submitting proposals for
consideration should request a copy of the RFP GRANTS

  is February 15, 1996.
