|SUBJECT:||Request for Proposals (RFPs) for Community-Based Organizations|
Under the requirements of the Carl D. Perkins Vocational and Applied Technology Education Act of 1990 and the State Plan for Vocational Education, funds are available through the RFP process for receipt of proposals in the area of Community-Based Organizations. The purpose of the RFP is to provide an opportunity to improve the quality of vocational education for disadvantaged or disabled students who are educationally or economically disadvantaged. These opportunities would be provided by Community-Based Organizations through exemplary programs and articulation with: 1) local school divisions; 2) other agencies; and, 3) employers. A Community-Based Organization is defined as "a private, non-profit organization that is representative of communities or significant segments of communities and provides job training services." Those institutions or agencies interested in submitting proposals for consideration should request a copy of the RFP GRANTS ADMINISTRATION PACKET from Bob Almond, Virginia Department of Education, P.O. Box 2120, Richmond, Virginia 23218-2120 or call Mr. Almond at 804/225-3349. These packets contain the Request for Proposals for Community-Based Organizations, all necessary information for submission of proposals, deadlines, funding information, and appropriate funds. The deadline for submission of proposals in response to this RFP is February 15, 1996.
