SUBJECT:	GUN-FREE SCHOOLS ACT - Revised Guidelines

  Attached is a revised guidance document issued by the U.S.
  Department of Education for implementing the federal Gun-Free
  Schools Act.  You will note that these guidelines are intended
  to replace a previous guidance document distributed by the
  U.S. Department of Education in January, 1995.
  
  Please be advised that these revised federal guidelines do not
  in any way preempt Virginia's code, 22.1-277.01, Expulsion of
  students under certain circumstances.
