INFORMATIONAL

  The Virginia Department of Education is planning a series of
  meetings around the State during the last week of March for
  those school divisions that intend to submit a Consolidated
  Application for federal funding beginning July 1, 1996.  The
  following topics will be discussed:
  
          a.   A review of the components of the
               application;
          b.   A suggested model or process for
               developing the application.
          c.   DOE procedures for technical support and
               review of the application.
  
  The meetings will be held during the week of March 25-29,
  1996.  Before the meetings are scheduled, please indicate
  your division's interest in developing a Consolidated Local
  Application.  Our intention is to make the meetings
  convenient to attend by convening them as close to the
  interested school divisions as possible.
  
  Please return the enclosed form by Friday, March 15, 1996 to
  express your interest in sending representatives from your
  school division to one of the training meetings.  Because of
  the short turn-a-around time, you may wish to fax or to call
  the Department to indicate your interest.  The fax and phone
  information is on the enclosed form.
  
  School divisions may wish to send a team with
  representatives from:  (1) the federal programs to be
  included in consolidation, (2) any state or local programs
  with which the federal programs will be coordinating, and
  (3) Key Instructional Leaders who may be involved in leading
  or supervising the local Consolidated Application process.
