Announcement of 1996 Governor's School Participants:
Academics, Arts, and Mentorships |
Attached you will find a listing of your students accepted to the 1996 Governor's Schools for Academics (Science, Humanities), Arts and Mentorships. Letters of acceptance will be mailed to the students on March 29, 1996. Foreign Language Academy participants will be announced at a later date. Please feel free to share this information with your staff and community. In Superintendent's Memo # 1, Regulatory, dated March 12, 1996, the General Assembly, subject to final approval by the Governor, has included funding to provide for the local share of summer residential Governor's Schools, based upon the composite index of the participating division or 50%, whichever is less. Additionally, language has been included to prohibit the local school division from charging students to attend the program. Funding for private school students will be based on the composite index of the division where the student resides or 50%, whichever is less. For the 1995-96 summer program (fiscal year 1996-97), the Department of Education will use the following per-pupil amounts: NASA and VIMS Mentorships ........................$1,880 MCV Mentorships ..................................$1,550 Academics and Arts Programs.......................$1,126 Thank you for your continued interest in and support of the Governor's School Programs.
