SUBJECT: Month for Children 


  The 1995 General Assembly through HJR 496 designated May as
  the Month for Children in Virginia.  The purpose of this
  memorandum is to call attention to this designation and to
  encourage special activities and media coverage that focus
  positively on the contributions made by our children and
  youth.
  
  A copy of a proclamation signed by Governor Allen is
  enclosed for your reference.  A Children and Youth Focus
  Task Force was recently formed to promote media coverage of
  children and youth and develop a three-year plan to create
  an awareness throughout the state of the contributions our
  young people continue to make.  A list of the task force
  members and other information is also attached.
