| SUBJECT: | Literacy Passport Test Video Tape |
The Department's Divisions of Assessment & Reporting and Elementary & Middle School Education have worked together to develop a video tape on the Literacy Passport Test (LPT). Its purpose is to provide school administrators, teachers and parents with information on what is tested by the LPT, the interpretation of test scores and reports, and LPT regulations and policies. A copy of the tape is being sent to you under separate cover. The tape, about an hour in length, consists of four parts: 1. An overview of the video tape content and a description of assessments presently required by Virginia education law (presented by Dr. Doris Redfield, Chief, Division of Assessment & Reporting) 2. An overview of the three LPT components (Mathematics, Reading Comprehension, Writing) A summary of the content and skills measured by the Mathematics LPT and examples of related classroom instructional strategies (presented by Dr. Carol Rezba, Mathematics Specialist) The objectives and format of the Reading LPT and examples of related classroom instructional strategies (presented by Dr. Katherine Rodgers, Language Arts) SUPTS. An overview of the student score reports and a discussion of the meaning and appropriate/inappropriate uses of the information contained in these reports (presented by Dr. Marcia Perry, Assessment Specialist) 4.
