1994 Report Cards for History and for Geography |
The National Center for Educational Statistics (NCES) has released two reports on the 1994 National Assessment of Educational Progress (NAEP): NAEP 1994 History Report Card and NAEP 1994 Geography Report Card. Approximately 6,000 students were tested nationwide in grades four, eight, and twelve in each of these subject areas. Each report contains summary data for the major demographic subpopulations of the nation. There are no state-level results because history and geography were not part of the state-level NAEP in 1994. NCES has also released NAEP 1994 Fourth Grade State Reading Proficiency and Contextual Background Factors, a chart that compares the reading proficiency of public school students in Virginia to those in each state and in the nation. Approximately 3,000 students in Virginia participated in the 1994 State Reading NAEP. In 1994 reading, unlike history and geography, was part of the state-level NAEP. SUPTS. MEMO. NO. 150 Page 2 September 6, 1996 A copy of each of these three documents is enclosed.
