SUBJECT:	Regulation Governing the Employment of Professional Personnel

  Enclosed is a copy of the revised Regulation Governing the
  Employment of Professional Personnel.  The 1996 revision was
  prompted by an amendment to 22.1-302 of the Code of
  Virginia, requiring local school boards to provide a
  separate contract for teachers who are receiving monetary
  supplements for extracurricular assignments.  The revised
  regulation incorporates the requirements of the statute as
  amended, and includes the model extracurricular activity
  sponsorship contract adopted by the Board of Education on
  June 27, 1996.
