SUBJECT:	Status Report on Standards of Learning Implementation

  The Department of Education conducted a survey in the fall
  of 1996 on the implementation status of the 1995 Standards
  of Learning. With your cooperation, this survey helped
  determine the degree to which the new standards have been
  implemented, and identified issues that should be considered
  during the coming months to ensure the continued successful
  implementation of the standards.

  Enclosed is a copy of the survey results, Status Report on
  Standards of Learning Implementation. This information will
  be valuable to the Department, Legislative Commissions,
  subcommittees, and to school divisions as decisions are made
  regarding the use of resources.
