Adjustment to Basic Aid for the Cost of Educating
Students at the Virginia Schools for the Deaf and Blind |
Attached is a printout reflecting the 1996-97 adjustment to Basic Aid for each school division's share of the cost of educating children in VSDB-Hampton and VSDB-Staunton. Please note that the data used to calculate the adjustment to Basic Aid and the actual transfer to the two schools are based on enrollment data for the 1995-96 school year. This adjustment will be made on the May 16, 1997 EDI, along with the Residential Governor's Schools, Foreign Language Academies, MH/MR transfer and the Electronic Classroom. (Refer to Information Supts. Memo. No. 160 dated September 27, 1997 on the Residential Governor's Schools and Foreign Language Academies; refer to Informational Supts. Memo. No. 2 dated January 1, 1997 on the MH/MR transfer.) In order to maintain proper accounting for the funds involved, it is necessary for each school division to note in its Annual School Report submission the gross receipt of Basic School Aid funds under line 2402020 "Basic School Aid." Total expenditures need to be reported in the Function of Instruction, Purchased Services, appropriately accounted for under the respective program(s).
