SUPTS. MEMO. NO. 154
October 10, 1997
|FROM:||Richard T. La Pointe
Superintendent of Public Instruction
|SUBJECT:||A Directory of Resources for Schools and Communities|
The Office of Compensatory Programs is pleased to provide each school division in Virginia with a complimentary copy of the enclosed publication: A Directory of Resources for Schools and Communities in Virginia, 1997. This document is the result of exceptional state level interagency collaborative efforts. The Commonwealth Alliance for Children, Schools and Communities (CACSF), a private non-profit organization founded in 1995, provided the project oversight. Elizabeth G. Whitham, Executive Director of CACSF, served as the project director. Under contract, the guide was developed by the Virginia Commonwealth University Center for School-Community Collaboration. Funding was provided by the Office of Compensatory Programs and utilized federal funding from the Safe and Drug-Free Schools and Communities Act (SDFSCA) of 1994. Printing was made possible by a grant received from the Virginia Department of Motor Vehicles, Transportation Safety Services, utilizing in-house printing services and federal funding from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). Six thousand copies of the directory were printed and are available, free of charge, for use by schools and communities in Virginia. Please utilize the enclosed order form to request additional copies. You may also want to duplicate this memo and provide a copy to private schools and community organizations within your school division. If you have questions, please call Arlene Cundiff in the Office of Compensatory Programs at 804/228-2871. RTL/saj Enclosure(s): A hard copy of this memo and its enclosure will be sent to the superintendent's office.
