| SUBJECT: | Tuition Certification for Academic Year Governor's Schools |
The 1998 General Assembly included language in the Appropriation Act that stated, "Out of the amounts for Governor's School payments,the Board of Education shall provide assistance for the state share of the incremental cost of regular school year Governor's Schools, Summer Residential Governor's Schools, and Foreign Language Academies to be based on the greater of the composite index or fifty percent. Participating school divisions must certify that no tuition is assessed students for participation in this program." (1998 Virginia Acts of Assembly, Special Session I, Chapter I, Item 144.A.) Information obtained from the attachment will assist us in answering requests from the General Assembly and interested persons regarding tuition for participation in an Academic Year Governor's School Program. Please complete the attachment and return to Janie Craig at the Virginia Department of Education, P.O. Box 2120, Richmond, Virginia 23218-2120 by November 20, 1998.
