| TO: | Division Superintendents |
| FROM: | Paul D. Stapleton
Superintendent of Public Instruction |
| SUBJECT: | Basic Proposal Writing Video |
Enclosed is a videotape presentation entitled "Basic Proposal Writing." The Department of Education produced this presentation in response to requests from school divisions for technical assistance with the development of their Technology Literacy Challenge (TLC) subgrant proposal. The program is approximately 25 minutes in length. It features Margaret Sprouse, an educator who has served as an independent consultant on proposal writing to school divisions and has conducted many workshops on this topic. The presentation offers an overview of the basic components of a proposal and looks at the components and requirements of the TLC proposal. Mrs. Sprouse gives viewers some guidelines for proposal development and offers some reasons why a proposal may not be funded. Additionally, we have contracted with Mrs. Sprouse to respond to your questions, either electronically or by regular mail. Additional copies of this video presentation may be requested by contacting the Department's Production Service, at 804-225-2400. Inquiries regarding the video presentation may be addressed to Lan Neugent, Assistant Superintendent for Technology,(804) 225-2757, or, regarding the development of your TLC proposal. We hope that this presentation will be useful to you with the preparation of your TLC subgrant proposal.
