| SUBJECT: | Second Call For Proposals: Comprehensive School Reform Demonstration Program Grant, Public Law 105-78 |
The Department of Education is announcing a second call for proposals for the Comprehensive School Reform Demonstration Program (CSRD). The same guidelines are applicable as are referenced in Superintendent's Administrative Memo No. 67, dated September 25, 1998. There are two categories of eligibility. Category 1 schools are those that are involved in Title I school improvement efforts,(Appendix B of application), and Category 2 schools are Title I or non-Title I middle, junior, and high schools. Successful applicants will receive an award of $50,000, renewable for two additional years, provided federal funds are available. On January 22, 1999, from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., in Room D/E on the lobby level of the James Monroe Building, the Department is providing a one-day technical assistance workshop for those schools that were not fully or conditionally funded during the first call for proposals and are planning to re-submit applications. The workshop is also designed to accommodate schools that are applying for the first time. Please return the enclosed intent form by January 14, 1999. First time applicants may secure an application packet by calling Helen Tucker at (804) 225-2902. All applications must be received by 4:00 p.m., on February 26, 1999.
