| FROM: | Paul D. Stapleton Superintendent of Public Instruction |
| SUBJECT: | Programs for the Gifted - Annual Report Form |
Attached is the form for submitting the division's
Program for the Gifted-Annual Report for 1998-1999. As
stated in Informational Superintendent's Memo Number 136,
September 25, 1998, this report is now required under
Virginia law 8 VAC 20-40-60 A. The completed form is
due on July 31, 1999 and should be mailed to Barbara
McGonagill, Governor's Schools and Gifted Education,

faxed to her at 804/692-3163.
The format of the annual report will change for 1999-
2000, based on a change in the legislation affecting
gifted education. Revisions, based on input through
meetings with local coordinators of the gifted held
throughout the Commonwealth this year, will be field
tested in many divisions in the coming weeks.
Your cooperation in completing the annual report is
appreciated. The information will be summarized and made
available to the Advisory Committee for the Education of
the Gifted and other interested parties. If you have
questions, concerns, or requests for more information,
please contact Barbara McGonagill at 804/225-2884 or by
