| SUBJECT: | Grant Applications for Programs Involving Homeless Children and Youth |
Enclosed is the 1999-02 proposal package to be used for applying for funding under the Stewart B. McKinney Education
for Homeless Children and Youth program authorized by the Stewart B. McKinney Homeless Assistance Act, as
amended September 28, 1994. Programs will be approved for a three- year grant period; however, funds will be allocated
on a yearly basis contingent on evaluation and continued funding at the federal level. Only one proposal is required for the
three-year grant period. Grant awards are provided for direct services to ensure the enrollment, attendance, and success
of homeless children and youth in school. Grants will be awarded on a competitive basis.
Local school divisions that wish to compete for funds should return a completed application proposal following the format
outlined in the attached Proposal Packet. Completed proposals should be received by 5:00 p.m. July 16, 1999. Please
submit an original and three copies to:
