| TO: | Division Superintendents |
| FROM: | Paul D. Stapleton
Superintendent of Public Instruction |
| SUBJECT: | The Preliminary Scholastic Aptitude Test/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT) Summary of Answers |
The College Board provides a Summary of Answers for students taking the Preliminary Scholastic Aptitude Test/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT). The Summary of Answers is available to schools having twenty-five or more students taking the PSAT/NMSQT. Last year, for the first time, the Department of Education purchased the Summary of Answers for each school division. I am pleased to inform you that the department will purchase the 1998-99 Summary of Answers. As you know, the Summary of Answers is a detailed analysis of students' performance on the PSAT/NMSQT. The analysis offers information on individual student performance, overall school performance, and division- wide performance. Regional training workshops for 1999 have not been scheduled. You will be informed when the arrangements are complete. Should you have any questions, you may contact Dr. James E. Laws, Jr. at (804) 225-2540. PDS/mfm
