| FROM: | Paul D. Stapleton
Superintendent of Public Instruction |
| SUBJECT: | 1998-99 Annual School Report - Statistical Section |
The statistical section of the Annual School Report for the 1998-99 school year has been revised so ADA percentage may be collected at the school level for reporting on the School Performance Report Card (SPRC). These revisions also eliminate information no longer needed by the Department of Education. The following are changes on the statistical tables in the report. (1) Table 1 - Summary of Enrollment and Attendance Data, Division Level has been revised. The number of days in session, average daily attendance and average daily membership by elementary, secondary, and total breakdowns will be requested at the division level. (2) Table 2 - Adjustments to ADM for Calculating LEA Per- Pupil Expenditures has been revised. Adjustments requested are the ADM from another LEA, the ADM from a regional special education center or private school and the ADM from a state-supported institution. (3) Table 3 - Adjustments to ADA of Resident Pupils for Calculating Federal Per-Pupil Expenditures has been revised. Adjustments requested are the ADA from another LEA, the ADA from a regional special education center or private school and the ADA from a state-supported institution. (4) Table 4 - Summary of Membership and Attendance Data, School Level is new. Total average daily attendance and total average daily membership will be requested for each school in the school division. The ADA percentage will be included on the 1998-99 School Performance Report Card (SPRC). (5) Table 6 - Promotions/Retentions By Grade (End-of-Year- Membership) will no longer request data on the total number of ungraded pupils ages 14 and above. Sample copies of the revised tables are included for your review. Please note that Table 5, Age/Grade Distribution for All Original Entry Pupils remains unchanged. The 1999 session of the General Assembly passed Senate Bill No. 1067 that extended the due date for submitting the Annual School Report to the Superintendent of Public Instruction. The 1998-99 Annual School Report - Statistical Section should be completed and returned to the Department of Education by September 15, 1999. Earlier submissions are encouraged. The Office of Management Information Systems is making plans to provide an electronic submission option for reporting the statistical tables to the Department. Final tables, detailed instructions for completing each of the tables, reporting formats and instructions, and a list of edit procedures will be sent to division superintendents in May 1999. Questions relating to the Annual School Report - Statistical Section should be directed to Janet Christopher or Mona Mallory at (804) 225-2099. PDS/dmb Attachment: A hard copy of this memo and its attach- ment will be sent to the superintendent's office.
