INFORMATIONAL

The Office of Management Information Systems in the Department 
of Education is beginning a long-term effort to develop a Data 
Administration function for the agency.  The responsibilities 
of Data Administration will include documenting and setting 
standards for the various agency data collections. 

The first step in this activity has been to identify the data 
collections.  The result is the attached "Calendar of Reports" 
for 1999-2000.  We hope you find the calendar useful as you 
plan ahead for reports to be sent to the Department of 
Education.  The Calendar of Reports includes the report name, 
due date, and contact information for data collections, 
questionnaires, plans, and other scheduled submissions. 

We have attempted to make this calendar as comprehensive as 
possible; however, collections which result from legislative 
studies and mandates from the 1999 session may not be 
reflected at this time.  A website version of the calendar 
will be kept up to date as these requirements become known.  
You may access this information from the Department's home 
page at www.pen.k12.va.us.
