| SUBJECT: | The Most Important 20 Minutes of Your Day: Read Aloud to Your Child Week |
Governor Jim Gilmore has recognized October 24-30, 1999, as "The Most Important 20 Minutes of Your Day: Read Aloud to Your Child Week" in support of the concept that reading aloud creates a passion for reading that lasts a lifetime. One of the events being held that week is a workshop presented by Jim Trelease, entitled "Turning on the Turned- Off Reader." The workshop will be held at the Landmark Theatre, Richmond, Virginia, on October 26, 1999, from 8:30 am to 3 pm. A nationally-acclaimed author and parent, Jim Trelease combines personal experiences and research with a dynamic delivery to explain the process of turning kids on to reading. If you wish additional information regarding the workshop and the events of the week, please contact Pat Mueller at 1-800-336-5266, at the Library of Virginia. PDS/JLD/jj
