INFORMATIONAL

This memorandum provides additional information to SUPTS. 
MEMO NO. 66 and SUPTS. MEMO NO. 139 concerning the 
Department of Education's plan to distribute Standards of 
Learning booklets to all Virginia public schools this fall.  
We anticipate shipping the booklets directly to schools 
beginning the first week of October. 

The SOL booklets will be printed in the same four 
configurations as the copies provided to schools this past 
year: Kindergarten through Grade Three, Grade Four through 
Grade Five, Grade Six through Grade Eight, and Secondary 
Courses. In addition to the Standards of Learning, the 
booklets will include the state graduation requirements and 
the SOL testing schedule for 1999-2000. The number and type 
of booklets to be shipped to each school will be based on 
enrollment data school divisions were asked to provide the 
Department of Education in SUPTS. MEMO NO. 66, issued March 
26, 1999.

As a reminder, the SOL Booklets are being provided to assist 
school divisions in complying with the Standards of 
Accreditation, 8 VAC 20-131-270, School and Community 
Communications. For additional information on the
