| TO: | Division Superintendents |
| FROM: | Paul D. Stapleton Superintendent of Public Instruction |
| SUBJECT: | Virginia School Principals' Week for 1999-2000 October 18-22, 1999 |
On behalf of the Department and the Board of Education, it
is my pleasure to announce that Governor James S. Gilmore,
III has signed a proclamation declaring the third week of
October as Virginia School Principals' Week for 1999-2000.
I hope that you and others throughout your community will
join me in acknowledging the tireless efforts of our school
principals across the state. Our school principals work
diligently to help students and teachers excel, and their
leadership and hard work are essential to the success of
our schools. They deserve all the recognition and praise
we can give them.
Enclosed is a photocopy of the Governor's Proclamation for
your review. Under separate cover, I would like to mail a
copy of the Proclamation to each of your principals. Also,
I hope that you and the other officials in your division
will celebrate Virginia School Principals' Week for 1999-
2000 by planning a special community event or other
function, as you deem appropriate.
If you have questions or wish copies of the Proclamation,
please call Margaret N. Roberts, executive assistant for
Board relations, Department of Education, at (804) 225-
2924.
Thank you for your consideration and help in getting the
word out to your community about Virginia School
Principals' Week for 1999-2000.
