| SUBJECT: | 2000-01 Preliminary Entitlements for the Class Size Reduction Program (Federally-Funded) |
The Virginia Department of Education has been notified of an allocation of $22,800,245 in federal funds for the Class Size Reduction Program. The 2000-2001 funds will be released to states in two phases. On July 3, 2000, 30 percent of the funds will be available to states and local school divisions. The remaining 70 percent of the funds will be available to states and local school divisions on October 2, 2000. The attached table is a list by school division of the Class Size Reduction entitlements. Class size application packets will be mailed to each program contact person in the school division. Applications should be submitted by June 27, 2000. Questions regarding the class size reduction program or the enclosed information should be directed to Dianne B.
