| TO: | Division Superintendents |
| FROM: | JoLynne DeMary Acting Superintendent of Public Instruction |
| SUBJECT: | Report of Teacher Salary Survey |
Administrative Supts. Memo No. 83, dated September 24, 1999, requested each school division to provide information on average classroom teacher salaries for the fiscal year 2000. The attached report reflects the data submitted to the Department of Education. A salary increase for teachers is not mandated for the fiscal year 2000; however, a supplement of 6 percent effective January 4, 2000, was appropriated and is available to school divisions that agree to provide an equivalent salary increase. The attached report has been provided to the chairman of the House Appropriations and Senate Finance Committees and to the state Board of Education. Please review the attached report and address any questions to Ms. Doris West or Ms. June Eanes at (804) 225-2025. JLD:dw Attachment: A hard copy of this memo and its attachment will be sent to the superintendent's office.
