February 25, 2000 |
| TO: | Division Superintendents |
| FROM: | JoLynne DeMary Acting Superintendent of Public Instruction |
| SUBJECT: | Procedure for Providing Feedback on Standards of Learning Tests After a Test Administration |
Informational Superintendent's Memo No. 124, dated June 11, 1999, addressed the ability of teachers and instructional staff to provide feedback to the Content Review Committees on SOL tests after each administration. Superintendent's Memo No. 124 contained a sample of this form. Superintendent's Memo No. 70, dated April 2, 1999, also addressed this issue and provided a set of instructions for accomplishing this review. The spring 2000 SOL testing is upon us. This memo contains the following materials to allow review of the tests being given in a school division during the spring and save you from searching for the referenced material: 1. the SOL Test Feedback Form for spring, 2000; 2. a copy of Superintendent's Memo No. 70, dated April 2, 1999, which contains the directions for this review; and 3. a copy of Superintendent's Memo No. 124, dated June 11, 1999. The SOL Tests are secure tests and the importance of maintaining test security cannot be overemphasized. If you have questions regarding this procedure, please call the Division of Assessment and Reporting at (804) 225-2102. JLD/CMH/jc Enclosure /administrators/superintendents_memos/2000/inf028.PDF
