The Department of Education plans to publish student entry and withdrawal codes and definitions for voluntary use by school divisions in maintaining information on students entering and leaving Virginia public schools. The new codes will provide additional options for recording information on enrollment in and withdrawal from Virginia schools. Draft entry and withdrawal codes and definitions are now available for your review and comment on our website http://www.pen.k12.va.us/VDOE/Publications/draftcodes.html. This draft incorporates standards published by the National Center for Education Statistics and was developed with the assistance of school division representatives. We welcome your suggestions for improving this draft. Please submit all suggestions to Mr. Jerry Mathews (mailto:jmathews@pen.k12.va.us) no later than June 1, 2000.
