Superintendent of Public Instruction |
| SUBJECT: | "Money Matters: The Role of Money in an Economy" Videotape and Module for Grades K-5 |
In an effort to assist with implementing the economics strand of the history and social science Standards of Learning for grades K-5, the Department of Education, in conjunction with Dr. William C. Wood of James Madison University, has developed "Money Matters: The Role of Money in an Economy."
This staff development and teaching module is designed to help classroom teachers understand, implement, and learn how economics can be integrated with other core disciplines. The goal is to enhance student learning and increase student retention of the content learned.
We anticipate that the videotape and module will be shipped on September 8, 2000, to central office social studies coordinators. There will be sufficient copies to be distributed to each elementary school. The videotape and module can be reproduced for educational purposes. We hope that the videotape and module will be of assistance in your history and social science Standards of Learning program.
