SUPTS. MEMO NO. 177
September 22, 2000
|FROM:||Jo Lynne DeMary
Superintendent of Public Instruction
|SUBJECT:||Public Hearing on Amendments to Pupil Accounting Regulations|
The Board of Education will hold a public hearing on proposed amendments to Virginia’s pupil accounting regulations on October 19, 2000, beginning at 2:45 p.m. in Lancaster Hall on the campus of Longwood College in Farmville, Virginia. Persons wishing to speak may register beginning at 2:15 p.m. Comments should be limited to three minutes, and speakers are encouraged to bring written copies of their comments. A copy of the proposed amendments is available on DOE’s website at the following location: http://www.pen.k12.va.us/VDOE/pupilacctregs.doc.html.
These amendments are intended to establish the authority of local school boards to select and implement automated systems for recording pupil enrollment and attendance without the need for expensive customization. The Department of Education’s economic and administrative impact analysis indicates considerable savings to localities resulting from the proposed amendments.
Written public comments will be accepted until November 24, 2000, and should be sent to Mr. Jerry Mathews, Virginia Department of Education, P. O. Box 2120, Richmond, VA, 23218, or mailto: firstname.lastname@example.org. Questions relating to the proposed amendments may also be directed to Mr. Mathews at (804) 225-2950.
Questions relating to the public hearing should be directed to Dr. Margaret N. Roberts, Office of Policy and Public Affairs, mailto: email@example.com or (804) 225-2540.
