| SUBJECT: | School Nutrition Programs Local E-Claim Program 4.0 Upgrade |
The Department of Education, School Nutrition Programs, has upgraded the software required for school divisions to process monthly claims for federal reimbursement. A new software packet that includes a CD-ROM, installation instructions, and a user manual is being sent under separate cover directly to the school nutrition director.
This new version of the E-Claim replaces version 3.62 and all previous editions. This upgrade allows the E-Claim software to operate in a Windows environment on the newer, faster Pentium-based computers.
All school nutrition programs may begin using this new E-Claim software immediately. The minimum computer requirements to operate this new version 4.0 E-Claim Program are as follows:
It is important to note that there is no change in the process for collecting each school division's meal claim data from their individual schools. The data should be entered into the new E-Claim program and submitted for payment. The VAPEN Web browser is still the method of transmitting the claim data. Payments will be processed by the Department of Education in the same manner as they previously were processed.
Questions relating to the SNP electronic claim
program should be directed to the school nutrition specialist assigned
to your division or W. Terry Dougherty, school nutrition programs specialist,
at (804) 371-8281 or tdougher@mail.vak12ed.edu.
