|SUBJECT:||Virginia Principal Survey|
The Virginia Department of Education is working with the Virginia Association of Secondary School Principals (VASSP), the Virginia Association of Elementary School Principals (VAESP), and The College of William and Mary to conduct a survey on the status of the principalship in Virginia. Principals and assistant principals will be asked to complete a voluntary Virginia Principal Survey. Instructions for completing the survey are being sent directly to school administrators. This comprehensive survey was developed with input from the leaders of the principals' organizations and a team of Virginia elementary, middle, and high school principals and assistant principals.
The Virginia Principal Survey collects information on principals' perceptions, attitudes, and needs as school administrators. The results of the survey will be used to assess the status of the principalship in Virginia, to contribute to the preparation of future administrators, and to plan professional development opportunities for practicing administrators.
Participants may complete a paper copy of the survey or complete the survey on-line (http://www.principalsurvey.com or http://www.vassp.org). All survey responses will be anonymous. Questions about the survey should be directed to the VASSP office at 1-800-249-8001.
