SUPTS. MEMO NO. 86
June 1, 2001
|FROM:||Jo Lynne DeMary
Superintendent of Public Instruction
|SUBJECT:||Recognition of the Outstanding Achievement by Students, Faculty, and Staff|
Kirk T. Schroder, President of the Board of Education, is requesting your help to identify students, faculty, staff members, or school organizations that have distinguished themselves, their school, and their community by receiving state, regional, or national awards or honors. These may be honors bestowed by academic groups, civic organizations, professional societies, or any other entity you deem worthy of recognition by the Board of Education.
At each of its upcoming monthly meetings, the board would like to continue its current practice of honoring those whose hard work and dedication have been recognized by professional organizations, civic groups, academic societies, or other entities. Mr. Schroder, on behalf of the Board, will write a letter of congratulations, or, if special recognition is warranted, the board may invite the recipient(s) to be present at a Board of Education meeting to receive recognition in person. In this way, the members of the state board may acknowledge the many outstanding students and teachers who bring honor to our schools and communities.
Please let us know if you are aware of students, student organizations, and staff members in your division who have received a state, regional, or national award, or special community recognition.
For your convenience, we have attached a form that you may distribute to staff members, asking that they assist in identifying such individuals and organizations. Margaret Roberts, executive assistant to the Board of Education is the contact for this effort. For more information, please contact Margaret Roberts (mailto: email@example.com), executive assistant for board relations at (804) 225-2924.
Thank you for your help with this important undertaking.
