| SUBJECT: | Title II, Dwight D. Eisenhower Funds – 2001-2002 Application and Entitlements |
The Department of Education is pleased to provide you with information pertaining to the Title II, Dwight D. Eisenhower Professional Development Grant for the fiscal year 2001-2002. The Eisenhower funds are distributed on a formula basis to school divisions for the primary purpose of providing professional development activities for teachers and other professional staff in support of the implementation of the Standards of Learning in the four core subjects.
Attachment A shows the 2001-2002 LEA Eisenhower Entitlements. Attachment B shows percentages of each required Eisenhower funding category. All funding is contingent upon availability of federal funds and the federal allocation to Virginia.
The allocation of funds will be 80 percent at the school level and 20 percent at the division level. There will be a 25 percent increase in funding for school divisions for the fiscal year 2001-2002. School divisions are required to spend the 25 percent increase for quality activities to reduce the percentage of teachers of English, mathematics, science, and history and social science who:
