SUBJECT: Virginia Association of Pupil Transportation (VAPT) and Department of Education Pupil Transportation Conference, June 16-19, 2002
The 2001 Virginia Pupil Transportation Conference sponsored by VAPT and the Department of Education will be held at the Marriott Norfolk, June 16-19, 2002.
Specific information will be sent to the transportation director in your school division. Registration is scheduled for Sunday beginning at 2 p.m. VAPT is sponsoring a ROAD-E-O for drivers on Monday afternoon. The conference will include sessions for transportation personnel on topics such as Fair Labor Standards, use of charter buses, Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards, and federal drug and alcohol testing. Off-site technical maintenance training will be held for technicians/mechanics. Exhibitors will be on hand to discuss their products with drivers, technicians, and directors.
A special invitation is extended to division superintendents and other school officials who are involved in purchasing pupil transportation equipment and anyone interested in learning more about changes affecting pupil transportation. Registration information will be contained in the package that will be sent to your transportation director or may be requested by contacting the individuals listed below.
