Designation of Student Information System Contact

 

 

School divisions are required by state regulations to collect, maintain, and report certain student information to the Department of Education. Amendments to Virginias pupil accounting regulations, effective March 28, 2001, give local school boards greater flexibility in record keeping in lieu of using the Virginia Teachers Register.

 

To improve communications and processes to ensure that automated systems maintain and produce the information that school divisions are required to report to the Department of Education, we are requesting that each division designate a student information system (SIS) contact person. Whenever any changes are made to state reporting requirements for student information, a communication that identifies the change(s) and the due date would be sent to the SIS contact as far in advance as possible.

 

Information on the SIS contact person should be submitted on the School and Staff Administrations Web-based form (refer to Supts. Memo No. 57 dated November 9, 2001). The form can be accessed from the Department of Educations website at the following address:
