Survey 2002 |
The
Department of Education is conducting the third annual survey on technology in
Virginias schools. Data provided by our school divisions in previous years
have been of tremendous assistance in obtaining a better understanding of the
technical capabilities and needs of our instructional programs.
As in
previous years, we expect to be asked to provide this information to the
Virginia General Assembly and other parties interested in the status of
educational technology in Virginias schools.
We ask that
the survey be completed by the school division technology coordinator. The
survey requests the connectivity status of each school and the number of
Internet-capable and connected computers in various types of rooms in the
school. Also requested are the number of FTE positions providing technical
support to the school, information on communication, and information on the use
of various instructional technologies in the classroom.
The survey is
automated using Microsoft Excel. Where possible, we have populated the
spreadsheet for your division with data submitted last year. Additional
features will enable you to see the calculated student-to-computer ratios for
each school prior to submitting the survey. The survey and instructions may be
accessed on the Web at:
http://www.pen.k12.va.us/VDOE/Technology.
School
divisions are requested to return the completed survey via E-mail attachment to
mailto:tech2002@pen.k12.va.us by June 14, 2002.
Questions regarding the survey may be directed to Bethann Canada, director of information technology (mailto:bcanada@pen.k12.va.us), or to Lan Neugent, assistant superintendent for technology (mailto:lneugent@pen.k12.va.us).
Thank you for
your assistance.
