SUBJECT:

2001-2002 Annual School Report Statistical Section

The Annual School Report Statistical Section for the 2001-2002 school year should be completed and returned to the Department of Education no later than September 13, 2002. Early submission is encouraged.

This report must be submitted in ASCII file format using the new Web-based data submission. As indicated in SUPTS. Memo No. 61, dated May 3, 2002, school divisions will be able to transfer an ASCII text file directly to the Department of Education. Instructions for this new Web-based data submission process will be available by July 1, 2002.

A custom-designed Annual School Report Statistical Section (ASRSTAT) spreadsheet can be downloaded from the Department of Educations website at www.pen.k12.va.us by selecting "Reports" at the top of the homepage or "Data and Publications" at the bottom and then selecting "2001-2002 Annual School Report Statistical Section" under "Data Collection." The complete address to access the ASRSTAT spreadsheet is www.pen.k12.va.us/VDOE/Publications/asrstat/datacoll/coll.htm. Detailed instructions for completing and submitting the report and file layouts for ASCII flat files can also be found at this site. Excel 97 or later versions should be used to complete the ASRSTAT spreadsheet.

Information on the contact person for the 2001-2002 Annual School Report is included in the excel spreadsheet. If the contact person information is incorrect, please refer to SUPTS. Memo No. 57 dated November 9, 2001 (/administrators/superintendents_memos/2001/adm057.html), for instructions on updating the contact person data through the School and Staff Administration Web-based form.

Each contact person for the ASRSTAT report should coordinate the collection of the data for the division and submit to the Department by the due date.

Questions or comments relating to the Annual School Report Statistical Section should be directed to the ASRSTAT e-mail address (asrstat@pen.k12.va.us) or to Data Administration at (804) 225-2099.
