2002-2003 Fee Approval for the
Laboratory Phase of Driver Education |
We need your assistance with the completion of the 2002-2003 Fee
Approval Application, Attachment A, for the laboratory phase of driver
education.
Pursuant to Item 143.C.2.e, Chapter 814, 2002 Acts of Assembly, to
be eligible to charge a fee for the laboratory phase of driver education during
the regular school term, the fee charged plus the per pupil reimbursement from basic aid must not exceed the average per
pupil cost. The "average per pupil
cost" for laboratory instruction is based on your previous years regular
term program costs.
The in-car student information submitted on your schools status
questionnaires and the driver education basic aid distribution information
provided on Attachment B should be used to calculate the 2001-2002 per pupil
state basic aid reimbursement for in-car instruction during the regular school
year.
Charging a fee for the laboratory phase of driver education is a local school board option, and has no
impact on the fee charged for summer school driver education programs will not result in a pro rata reduction in
basic aid.
Please complete Attachment A with the 2002-2003 regular school
term in-car fee information. We would
appreciate receiving this information no later than July 5, 2002. If you have questions, please contact
Vanessa C. Wigand (vwigand@pen.k12.va.us)
at (804) 225-3300.
