Data is required by the Department of
Education on or before Tuesday,
October 15, 2002. Early
submission is strongly encouraged. Fall
membership data are critical to the revision of ADM estimates and are needed to
finalize the state budget submitted by the Governor. The November budget deadline necessitates a very aggressive
timeline for the fall membership report.
A custom-designed fall membership
spreadsheet and detailed instructions for completing the report can be
downloaded from the Department of Educations website at www.pen.k12.va.us by selecting Reports
at the top of the homepage or Data and Publications at the bottom and then
selecting Fall Membership Report 2002-2003 from the Data Collections listing. The complete address to access the fall
membership spreadsheet is: www.pen.k12.va.us/VDOE/Publications/Fall_Membership/datacoll/coll.htm.
File layouts are included in the
instructions for school divisions that prefer to create the fall membership
data through their information systems as an ASCII text file. The format for the ASCII text file layout
has been revised. All record types,
including header and trailer records, must be written according to the
specifications.
Each contact person for the Fall
Membership Report should coordinate the collection of all data for the division
and submit the data in ASCII text file format using the new Web-based data submission
process.
Please direct any questions or comments
relating to the Fall Membership Report to fallmemb@pen.k12.va.us or to Data
Administration staff at (804) 225-2099.
