Request for
Nominations of College-Bound Students for the Robert C. Byrd Honors
Scholarship |
The purpose
of the Robert C. Byrd Scholarship Program is to award scholarships to
graduating seniors of public and private secondary schools and those who have
the equivalent of a high school diploma.
The applicants must show promise of continued outstanding academic
achievement. Byrd scholars shall be
selected in such a manner that all areas of the commonwealth are fairly
represented. We request that you
emphasize activities that will assure that students from low-income and
moderate-income families have access to the information about the opportunity
for full participation in the scholarship program. Additional information and the application may be found in the
attachments to this memorandum. The
application form is available in both PDF and Microsoft Word formats.
Principals of
all public and nonpublic senior high schools will be informed of the
scholarship and requested to assist in making students aware of the scholarship
opportunity. For further information,
