SUBJECT:

Request for Nominations of College-Bound Students for the Robert C. Byrd Honors Scholarship

The purpose of the Robert C. The applicants must show promise of continued outstanding academic achievement. Byrd scholars shall be selected in such a manner that all areas of the commonwealth are fairly represented. We request that you emphasize activities that will assure that students from low-income and moderate-income families have access to the information about the opportunity for full participation in the scholarship program. Additional information and the application may be found in the attachments to this memorandum. The application form is available in both PDF and Microsoft Word formats.

Principals of all public and nonpublic senior high schools will be informed of the scholarship and requested to assist in making students aware of the scholarship opportunity. For further information, please contact Vernon L. Wildy (mailto:vwildy@pen.k12.va.us), associate director for secondary instructional services, at (804) 225-2877.
