The Virginia Department of Education (VDOE), in cooperation with the Virginia Association of School Personnel Administrators (VASPA), is pleased to provide you with registration materials and highlights of a program agenda for the 2002 Spring Drive-in Technical Assistance Forum. The target audience for this forum includes a human resources professional and a teacher licensure specialist from each school division. The jointly sponsored forum will be held in lieu of the annual spring job fair and conference.

The forum will begin at 9 a.m. on Friday, May 3, 2002, at the Sheraton Richmond West Hotel, 6624 West Broad Street, Richmond, Virginia. The agenda will feature a full day of concurrent sessions led by Department of Education personnel and human resources professionals from school divisions throughout Virginia. The format of the sessions is designed to provide participants with information about hot topics in the human resources area, including compensation plans and benefits, self-assessment of technology skills for supervisors and teachers, best practices in performance evaluations, and technical assistance in licensing instructional personnel. The Honorable Phillip A. Hamilton, member of the Virginia General Assembly, will present highlights, achievements and implications of the 2002 General Assembly Legislative Session. Immediately following the forum, a business session will be held for the VASPA membership that will include the election of officers for the 2002-2003 year.

Enclosed is a registration form. Please submit the completed form, no later than April 24, 2002, to
