SUBJECT:

An Economy at Work: The Production and Consumption of Goods and Services

In an effort to provide additional resources for the economics strand of the history and social science Standards of Learning for grades K-5, the Department of Education, in conjunction with Dr. William C. Wood of James Madison University, has developed a teaching module entitled An Economy at Work: The Production and Consumption of Goods and Services.

This teaching module is designed to help elementary classroom teachers implement instructional strategies for teaching relevant economics concepts, understand production and consumption in the economy, and learn how economics can be integrated with other core disciplines. The goal of this module is to enhance learning and increase students retention of the content learned.
