SUBJECT: |
Nominations
for the History and Social Science and Health Education Textbook and
Instructional Materials Review Committees |
The purpose
of this memo is to seek nominations for membership on the History and Social
Science and Health Education Textbook and Instructional Materials Review
Committees. History and Social Science personnel will be needed to staff eight
committees listed in Attachment A. Health Education personnel will be needed to
staff three committees listed in Attachment B.
Three to five individuals will serve on each committee.
Publishers
will be instructed to send each committee member the textbooks and related
materials, including the proposed correlation of the materials with either the
History and Social Science or the Health Standards of Learning. The committees
will review the materials independently. We anticipate that the committees will
meet in Richmond in July 2002 to compile the review documents.
Please
nominate one or more distinguished history and social science and health
educators in your division and forward to each of them a copy of the attached
application to serve on the History and Social Science or Health Education
Textbook and Instructional Materials Review Committees. The applications are
provided as attachments A and B. Nominees should submit completed forms to the
division superintendent for his/her signature; the forms are to be returned to
the Department of Education by May 10, 2002. The return address is indicated on
the applications.
