Workshop for New Administrators of

Career and Technical Education (CTE)

New administrators of career and technical education are invited to participate in the New Administrators Workshop, July 23-25, 2002, which will be held at the CTE Resource Center in Henrico County, Virginia. The workshop, which will begin at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, July 23, and conclude at noon on Thursday, July 25, is open to all administrators of career and technical education who have been appointed during the past two years and administrators who have attended a previous workshop and would like a refresher.

The topics covered in this workshop are designed to provide new administrators with the knowledge and resources required to understand the Carl D. Perkins Act of 1998; local planning and budget as related to the Perkins Act; state initiatives for improved programs; state and federal data requirements; and performance standards and local program improvement.

Expenses for the workshop will be shared by the locality and the Department of Education (DOE). For participants who attend all the sessions of the workshop, DOE will provide workshop materials, lodging on July 23 and 24, and meals. Participants who do not attend all the sessions of the workshop will be responsible for all expenses, including lodging and meals.

The tentative agenda for the workshop (Attachment A) is attached for your information. Please return the attached registration form (Attachment B) to the Department of Education by June 30, 2002, to register for this workshop. If you have any questions, contact Susan Williams (mailto: smwillia@pen.k12.va.us), specialist, data management for career and technical education, at 804/371-2924. We look forward to seeing you in Richmond this summer.
