At its
September 26, 2002, meeting, the Board of Education conducted the first review
of the Alternative Standards of Learning Assessment and Evaluation program for
Certain Students with Disabilities Who Cannot Be Accommodated on the Standards
of Learning Tests. This program is
intended for a limited number of students with disabilities who cannot be
accommodated on the Standards of Learning tests because of unique physical or
mental disabilities. A copy of a
document describing the program is attached.
The board expects to conduct the final review of these provisions at its meeting on November 20. In the meantime, we are requesting that you and your staff review this document and provide comments as appropriate. Comments should be submitted in writing or electronically to Mr. Nathan Sparks, Division of Assessment and Reporting.
